Welcome!

Jennifer Melton, MS, CCC-SLP, founded Bold Speech Therapy in 2020 when she realized the great need for competent, accessible speech therapy for people who stutter.

Jennifer is a highly trained clinician with particular focus on stuttering treatment and reading and writing disorders (including dyslexia). Educational highlights include Palin Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for Early Childhood Stuttering; The Lidcombe Program; Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy; and participation in the Stuttering Foundation Eastern Workshop where she increased her depth of knowledge in the areas of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Jennifer is an active member of the Transcending Stuttering Community, where like-minded speech language pathologists engage in continuing education related to stuttering, stay up to date on the most current research, and learn from each other.

Soon after the start of her speech therapy career, Jennifer started noticing a pattern across many of her clients: difficulties with reading and writing. To better support these clients, she has taken a deep dive into the Science of Reading and is trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach to treating reading disabilities by the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE).

In addition, Jennifer has provided assessments and treatment for language delays, articulation, apraxia, voice, and accent modification. She has experience in both clinical and school settings.  Before becoming a speech-language pathologist, Jennifer was a teacher at the secondary level.

Jennifer received her MS in Communicative Disorders from Jackson State University in 2018. She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), the ASHA Special Interest Group for Fluency Disorders, and Mississippi Speech-Language-Hearing Association (MSHA).

Born and raised in Iowa, Jennifer currently lives in Mississippi. She spends her free time gardening, caring for stray animals, and learning to play the ukulele.
